Globe Butchers in Commercial Road, Lerwick, Shetland is a thriving business that has been in the capable hands of the Moffat family for four generations.

Globe Butchers was established on Saturday, 28th January 1893 The business is currently run by Rognvald, his wife Mona and their son Keith, who joined his parents in 1983, continuing the business into the fourth generation.

The business has gone from strength to strength, and in 1993 the shop was enlarged and refurbished with no expense spared. State of the art machinery and equipment was fitted throughout, and when it opened for business again the premises boasted 21 linear feet of glass-fronted refrigerated serve-over counter - the only one of its kind in Shetland.

There is a huge range of meat including Shetland lamb on display and the professional staff are friendly and always willing to help. The popularity of the shop is also a result of the emphasis they place on high quality and customer satisfaction. They have been awarded the Q Guild of Butchers Award since 1995 for high standards in meat producing, hygiene and service.

Customers are given personal attention and advice if required (including recipes), and they all appreciate the wide variety of products on display. Salt beef, reestit mutton and saucermeat are all very popular traditional meats - especially since the shop was featured on the television programme Scotland's Larder.

Globe Butchers cater for special occasions such as weddings and do a lot of boat orders and freezer orders. They have made up excellently priced freezer packs and you can also make up your own one and still enjoy the discounts.
